Unreleased Music
(for now)
My live work is rather different than the recordings, for the most part (especially for old songs, from 1989-2002).
Below are some MP3s that can not (currently) be found on any album.
I've tried to organize them roughly by date.
Because I'm just well-organized in that way.
The world needs order...
2008
Won't You Come a-Dreaming?
20080310 - Probably going to appear on an album about the Tao. We'll see.
Lyrics can be found here on my blog on my MySpace page.

Faces of the Whirlpool
20080227 - My first new piece since "Life of the Progenitress!" Much more to come!
This one's a passage from the Chuang Tzu, a classic Taoist text. Chapter 7. It is nowadays spelled Zhuangzi. Because it wasn't confusing enough, trying to pronounce Chinese without speaking a lick of it. I imagine I butchered the names.
Lyrics can be found here on my blog on my MySpace page.

2007
2007 was a very powerful time for me, magically speaking.
Two tremendously life-changing experiences transpired, and so I wrote two albums from it.
One is about regrowth, reintegration, personal transformation, and that sort of thing.
The album inspired by the events of Summer/Autumn 2007 is called
Conversations with a Child in the Forest.
The other album is about mortality, the heroic struggle, and the inspiration of communal spirit that is left in the passing of a maternal figure.
The album inspired by the death of my mother in Winter 2007 is called
Life of the Progenitress.
Here are the tracks from our show on 20071229.
My step-brother Phil joined me for this show.
We dedicated it to my mother, who died of cancer four days earlier (on 20071225). I wish I had something funny to say about that. The last two tracks (half the set) were composed and performed in memoriam to her. We do the best we can to honor our fallen.
The video and two songs are released as part of the album I did in tribute to her, called "Life of the Progenitress."
That album is free to download, but if you wish to purchase a physical copy, I will give all proceeds to the Marybeth Windholz memorial fund at the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and/or to the Pancreatic Cancer Society.
The videos are redundantly linked here for your immediate gratification pleasure.
Who would have ever thought anybody could find gratification through the internet?
They're on videos.google.com.

Thanks so much to Tim and Baata for taping it, "Mike" for compressing it, and Phil for performing with me. I don't know if any of those people actually want to be publicly called out, so I'll withhold last names. That's the discrete sort of fellow I am. No witnesses. Nobody saw that. Just two cool guys, hanging out. What happens in Vegas stays on YouTube.
Why We Fight
Oct 2007 sometime - Drums and vocals. Awful sound quality, but I think it can be fixed at some point. Or redone.
Gifts of the Lilin
20070701 - Classical guitar and vocals. Lyrics can be found here.
BZZZZZZZ
Solo classical guitar.
I don't know what to do with this song.
It has an awful lot of buzzing in the background.
It makes me angry.
Like, Marvin the Martian angry.
That's how angry it makes me.
Untitled Ukulele Piece
March 2007 sometime. Solo ukulele. No, I'm not kidding.Probably to appear on the as-yet-unfinished "Isa Runestave" album, which represents my state of mind in 2006.
2006
Most of the work from 2006 will probably appear on an as-yet-unfinished album called "Isa Runestave." The album represents my state of mind during 2006. It is difficult now for me to go back and finish it, since it means revisiting a land from which I have since expatriated. However, it is good work, and it will be a worthwhile effort.
The Sun is Swallowed by the Longest Night

2005
2005 was... not a good year for me.
Or perhaps it was a great year.
It marks a time of liberation and challenge and pain and growth.
I wrote a whole lot of music at this time, actually, but I haven't recorded much of it.
It is anticipated to appear "someday" on a trilogy called "Separation."
For now, let us discuss it no further.
Separation - Purification - Reintegration
2004
2003-2004 is when I first started making musick again after a long period of this wacky thing called graduate school.
This marks the beginning of the period when my music no longer sucked.
Figures
This song was first composed and performed for Emily Bishop and James Sudd, on the occasion of their wedding, 20040911.
A version of it will someday appear on "Separation from Humanity," which you don't know about yet, because it doesn't yet exist.
Driftwood
Here is a cello song for T. Edgar Welch's film, "Interrupted Passage."
It is published by Nitrate Films.
I think I'm going to put it on an album called "Isa Runestave."
Who knows?
Here are the tracks from a show on Aug 21, 2004.
http://www.nemodog.org/Show20040821/Show20040821.htm
I have video, and I will probably put it up on the web site "someday."
First Figure in the Yellow Room"
Shelter
Q1
Spring Returns
Awakening Into the Shadows
Isolation
1989-2003
I co-founded this project in 1989 as a gothic rock band.
It sucked.
Over time, I incorporated more industrial/electronic elements.
It sucked less.
Eventually, I incorporated more strings and/or acoustic elements, mixed in with the goth-industrial.
It sucked even less.
Each album sounds better than the last, but the fact is I just didn't know how to make good recordings and I didn't have adequate equipment.
There are unreleased songs and/or live songs from this time, but you'll have to poke around and find them yourself if you're curious.
